Titel
Metallic coatings by the thermal spraying techniques on the substrate
Abstract
In order to improve the corrosion resistance of waste incinerators parts, several surface treatments have been developed. Among them, the thermal spraying technique of metallic powders (e.g. Fe) has emerged as a promising approach for the modification of the surface properties of a material through the deposition of a coating. The solution developed allow to increase the lifetime. In order to improve again the performance it is proposed to add materials on the surface of existing alloy powder used for thermal spraying. In this context, the synthesis of a Cr, W or NiCr-based thin film on the Fe particles by the magnetron sputtering technique is studied. SEM experiments reveal that the Fe particles are homogenously covered by Cr, W or NiCr-based coating. The thickness of the layer can be easily adjusted varying the experimental conditions. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated that the different powder preparation methods have an influence to the thermal spraying coating and to the corrosion resistance.
