Potenziale globaler Direktbelieferung für Textillogistikketten aus China
Abstract

Potentials of direct store delivery of textiles from China Facing the increasing importance of global sourcing in retail industry leads to focusing on efficient procurement concepts. The German clothing industry in particular demans for innovative logistics strategies, since about 40% of their goods are sourced from Asia. The concept of direct store delivery shifts warehousing and picking activities to China, where the products are already prepared so that they are ready for sale. In the country of destination they are fed directly in the parcel network and shipped to the store. In this research, the qualitative and quantitative potentials of this concept are beeing evaluated and compared to current logistics costs. In a case study using data obtained by a retailer and logistics service provider the logistics costs are reduced by 15% due to cost advantages in the sourcing region. Additionally, the decrease of warehousing steps results in shorter delivery times and therefore a time saving of up to 6 days in the procurement process.
