Abstract
The use of porous materials instead of solid materials as high voltage insulations for reduction of weight is planned. Inner cavities inside the insulation material may lead to discharges. These discharges are called microplasmas or parial discharges. Here, even in simple cavities the analytic approximation of the discharge process can be very complex. Thus, numerical simulations are required for a detailed analysis. In this work, a three dimensional plasma simulation tool based on the Particle-in-Cell and Monte-Carlo method (PIC-MC) is used. Basing on this, in a previous scientific paper the applicability of PIC-MC simulations for small single cavities at atmospheric pressure was shown. In this paper the propagation process in microcavity arrangements is presented.
