Battery management systems are a mandatory instrument in the regulation and control of electrochemical energy Storage. The test and validation of state detection algorithms and thermal and electrical manage­ment are challenging issues in the development of these systems. Emulation-based hardware-in-the-loop test setups provide the required reproducible and reliable reference values of the battery systems as weil as high current capabilities and high voltage-dynamics. Moreover, they can be performed in a cost and time efficient way.
