Today one can observe that people make increasing use of advanced mobile electronic devices: mobile phones for communication, PDAs for dates and contacts, and GPS-based navigation aids. While there already is a trend towards combining such devices (e.g. smart phones with WLAN and GPS), their user interfaces are often awkward and difficult to use - especially when you need to have your hands free. Further the type of applications are very restricted due to the very limited display size. Augmented Reality (AR) provides a new technology, which allows us to realize a completely new type of personal assistant, integrating existing services.
It provides an intuitive user interface by acting very similar to a real companion, additionally having direct access to personal electronic information.
