In this paper, the passive localization and tracking of aircrafts sending Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B)/Mode-S transponder signals is investigated. A sensor network taking Time (Difference) of Arrival (TOA/TDOA) measurements is considered. TDOA/TOA-based geolocation is used along with a Kalman filter to localize and track air-crafts. Experimental results show the feasibility to enhance airspace surveillance using multilateration sensor networks. The localization results are compared to the ADS-B position information and to radar tracks.
