A novel approach to calibrate the geometry of microphones using a single sound event is proposed. A variant of the EM algorithm is employed to estimate the spatial coherence matrix of the reverberant sound field directly from the microphone signals. By matching the spatial coherence to theoretical models, the pairwise microphone distances are estimated. From this, the overall geometry is computed. Simulations and lab recordings are used to show that the proposed method outperforms a related approach that assumes a perfectly diffused sound field.
