Abstract
Even for litz wire conductors consisting of the same amount of strands, the frequencydependent power losses on system level differ significantly between different bundle structures. The multiscale problem consisting of electromagnetic effects in the dimension of microns which influences a power electronic system on macroscopic level has been examined by a coupled simulation approach based on the FEM and PEEC method. Common PEEC approaches have been adapted to highly complex litz wires by enhanced mathematical methods for sparsematrices. The simulation results have been verified by measurements up to 1 MHz.
