Titel
Gaussian deconvolution method for identification of impairments in optical signal transmission
Abstract
Amplitude histograms which have simultaneously deterministic perturbations and Gaussian noise are analysed by a Gaussian deconvolution method. It enables the identification of the deterministic perturbations which are usually hidden by the noise. In addition, the strength of the Gaussian noise and the parameters of the deterministic perturbations can be evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively. Numerical examples for the evaluation of histograms with intersymbol interference and with deterministic jitter show the validity of the method.
