Title
VORRICHTUNG UND VERFAHREN ZUR ANALYSE VON FLUIDEN
Other Title
Used engine oil test instrument has fiber optic cable in contact with test fluid and positioned between light source and light sensor.
Abstract
WO 200227302 A UPAB: 20050805 NOVELTY - In a process to analyze petrochemical fuel and lubricants, a fiber optic conductor is positioned between a light source and a sensor. The optical conductor is at least partly in contact with the liquid. Rays emitted from the light source are transported through the optical conductor and are detected by a light sensor. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The optical conductor is an ATR fiber optic wave guide with a polyurethane matrix cavity or cavity coating. In the coating material the -OH components are exchanged for NH2. An amplitude modulator is located between the light source and optical conductor. The amplitude modulator is a paddle wheel chopper or Bragg-grid. A collimator is located between the light source and optical conductor. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for an analyzer for the above process. USE - For testing the conditions of petrochemical fuel and oils on a prophylactic basis. ADVANTAGE - The low-cost test obviates the need to change engine oil at regular intervals as a precaution without prior test.
