Title
Rapid on-chip detection of Chlamydia trachomatis for home-care using loop-mediated isothermal amplification
Abstract
Chlamydiae are intracellular bacterial pathogens having the ability to cause persistent, often subclinical and mainly sexually transmitted infection (STI). Here, we present a microfluidic device for early diagnosis of STIs. The microfluidic set-up integrates an isothermal nucleic acid amplification driven by internal chemical heating and the detection of the specific amplification product on a lateral flow-based strip. This simple and disposable test platform for the screening of pathogenic Chlamydia trachomatis is a promising tool in home-care diagnosis.
