Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft Mikroarray-Traeger aus einem im wesentlichen hydrophoben Substrat, das auf seiner Oberflaeche im wesentlichen hydrophile Bereiche aufweist, sowie Verfahren zu deren Herstellung. Derartige Mikroarray-Traeger koennen fuer sogenannte Spotting-Prozesse verwendet werden, bei denen auf den hydrophilen Tropfen der Probenloesungen abgeschieden und so unterschiedliche Reaktanten, z. B. Oligonucleotide, DNA, Oligopeptide oder Proteine, chemisch gebunden werden koennen.

DE 10241409 A UPAB: 20040429 NOVELTY - Microarray carrier (A) comprises a substrate of polymer and/or copolymer having at least one surface with a static water contact angle ( theta 1), formed as an array of non-contacting regions with similar angle ( theta 2) where theta 1 is at least 10 deg. larger than theta 2. The regions of theta 2 carry optionally silanized silanol groups. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for methods for preparing (A). USE - (A) are used as DNA or protein chips, for performing binding assays in biological research, particularly for use in spotting processes where hydrophilic droplets of test solutions are deposited. ADVANTAGE - (A) are prepared from inexpensive starting materials and individual solutions can be applied to precise locations, as well formed spots. They are also more robust than standard glass substrates (virtually unbreakable), and the surface tension and chemical functionality can be controlled, independently of the environment.
