Abstract
WO2004026884 A UPAB: 20040527 NOVELTY - omega -Phosphonyl-(thio)carboxylic ester and N-substituted amide compounds (I), in which the ester or N-substituent is linear or branched and has polymerizable group(s), are new. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - omega -Phosphonyl(thio)carboxylic ester and N-substituted amide compounds of formula ((R1)(R2)P(O)-(CHR3)-(CHR4)- (CHR5)m-C(O)X-)n (B) (I) are new; X = O, NH, NR6 or S; R1, R2 = H or (substituted) alk(en)yl(oxy), (alkyl)aryl(oxy) or arylalkyl(oxy); R3, R4, R5, R6 = H or (substituted) alk(en)yl, (alkyl)aryl or arylalkyl; (B) = a linear or branched group with organic polymerizable group(s) and not less than 2 C atoms; m = 0-20; n = 1-20. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) preparation of (I); (2) homopolymers of (I); (3) mixed polymers of various compounds (I); (4) copolymers produced using (I) monomer or block polymer units. USE - omega -Phosphonyl-(thio)carboxylic ester and N-substituted amide compounds (I) are useful in the medical, especially dental, sector and for modifying the properties of materials, especially as adhesion promoter, matrix for cement, for growth of natural tooth or bone tissue, as composite, casting composition or adhesive. They can be polymerized alone or with other materials, e.g. optionally prehydrolyzed silanes and optionally other metal and/or organic compounds to give organic or inorganic-organic homopolymers or hybrid materials, e.g. bulk materials, composites, cements, adhesives, casting compositions, coating materials, adhesion promoters or binders for ceramic particles. They are also useful for producing or priming fillers and fibers, for polishing disks or use in reaction extruders etc. ADVANTAGE - omega -Phosphonyl-(thio)carboxylic ester and N-substituted amide compounds (I) are resistant to hydrolysis and can be produced relatively easily, by various methods, including a cited method using cheap starting materials.
