Abstract
DE 10244151 A UPAB: 20040505 NOVELTY - The hollow camshaft (1) is fabricated by internal high-pressure forming. The cam running surface and the bearing surfaces have wear-resistant ceramic, metal-ceramic, or metallic coating. The coating is fastened to the camshaft mainly by mechanical cramping. It is produced by thermal spray coating. The cam (2) has a peripheral recess serving as a bed for the functional layer (3). USE - Motor vehicle engines. ADVANTAGE - Coating prevents thermal distortion of the shaft, reduced weight and friction.
