Titel
Grazing incidence ultrasound microscopy (GIUM) compared with and verified by electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD)
Abstract
Laser vibrometer visualization is helpful for understanding wave propagation in austenitic and bimetallic welds GIUM is a new method for visualization of the microstructure GIUM is a near field method and has a resolution below the acoustic wavelength For austenitic welds the grain structure can be determined together with the wave propagation in one contactless measurement More work has to be done to extract as much as possible information, going in the direction: extract full grain orientation information (towards "ultrasonic EBSD") extract anisotropic elastic properties Compared to SRAS (special resolved acoustic spectroscopy)? GIUM is less quantitative GIUM has no resolution limit.
