Abstract
(A1) Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft sphaerische Metalloxidpartikel mit einem Partikeldurchmesser von 5 nm bis 10000 nm, die mindestens eine oxidische Verbindung von Elementen, ausgewaehlt aus der ersten bis fuenften Hauptgruppe, der Uebergangsmetalle und/oder der Lanthanoiden enthalten, wobei sie auf der Oberflaeche partikulaere Erhebungen aufweisen.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for the production of metal oxide particles (I). USE - (I) are used for the production of bulk materials, coatings, films, fibers, optical, electrooptical or optoelectronic components, in chromatography, as fillers, as carriers for pharmacological agents, in bioanalysis, in catalysis and sensor technology or in medical or dental technology (all claimed). They are also useful as precursors for producing nanostructurized materials, e.g. ceramics, and coatings with sensor properties. ADVANTAGE - (I) have a 'hedgehog' structure, a larger surface area than usual and form effective bonds in various matrices, e.g. polymers.
