Recent developments show that the requirements for non-destructive testing of wheel set components are increasing. This has become noticeable in the area of inspection sensitivity as well as a reduction of non- testable areas and with regards to the reduction of the inspection time. All of these aspects become more and more relevant for both inspection during manufacturing and in-service inspection.
