Distributed work management: Activity coordination within the EuroCoOp project
Abstract
The EuroCoOp project aims to develop powerful and effective systems for supporting distributed cooperative work. The approach adopted is to integrate components from a number of existing systems, and to develop new cooperation tools based on the study of a large scale technical application that encompasses many generic cooperation problems. This paper describes the work of a large part of the project which involves the development of a support system for the coordination of distributed activities based on asynchronous communication. Underlying this system is the EuroCoOp Activity Coordination Model, which allows the representation of distributed cooperative tasks. Management of task execution is supported by the EuroCoOp Activity Coordination Toolkit, which aids users in the coordination of tasks.
