Titel
Press hardening of a martensitic stainless steel sheet alloy for manufacturing a side sill demonstrator with tailored properties
Abstract
The present work deals with a technological study about the possibilities to integrate the 1.4034 martensitic stainless steel sheet alloy in the conventional press hardening process. In a first step, the hot ductility behaviour of the steel alloy was characterized by tensile tests at different temperatures. Afterwards, heat treatments were performed in conjunction with a flat test tool integrated in a press. Heat treatment temperature was the principal process parameter having been varied. The resulting mechanical properties and phase constitution of the heat treated sheets were determined. Finally, press hardened side sill demonstrators were manufactured and the resulting microstructure and mechanical properties of the components were evaluated.
