The transmission loss of thin plates is determined with a coupled FEM-BEM method. Source and receiving room are incorporated explicitly in the numerical model. The model captures the effect of the rooms on the transmission loss, especially at low frequencies with low diffusivity. The study shows also that the niche-effect is less evident for corrugated plates than for flat plates and frequency-dependent. The simulations provide values of the transmission loss that are in good agreement with the measurements.
