The present work documents a study, which considered different compositions of clay plaster mortar, studying their typical characteristics, and it supplies a statement about how clay plasters are to be aplied in the present building, whether in the historic preservation's application and in the establishment of climatically optimized living rooms in the new buildings. Comparing the Typha reinforcement fibres with other common reinforcement materials, the study explains the benefits of this new reinforcement system, noticing also the environmental impact of the planting of the Typha plant. The addition of innovative natural plant fibres for the reinforcement of clay plasters, which are almost fully invisible for the man's eye, is the central topic of a research project at the Fraunhofer IBP. These Typha seed fibres don't only increase the resistance against abrasion and cracking of the clay material, but it also improve its mildew resistance.
