Title
Graphene's Future and its Process technology: View on graphene research from a production technology point of view
Title Supplement
Presentation held at The 6th International Conference on Recent Progress in Graphene Research, September 21-25 2014, Taipei, Taiwan
Abstract
Graphene, a monolayer of carbon atoms with a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice, has shown many interesting properties from the mechanical, electrical, thermal and optical point of view. These properties make graphene a material of interest for many applications, for example in the fields of electronics, composites, sensors as well as energy storage and conversion. Even though that Graphene research was awarded with a nobel prize in 2010 and the European commission drives many strategic activities to establish Graphene, many groups already switched to other 2D materials. As a result Graphene real potential is under intensive discussion today. This talk will introduce the opportunities and challenges of the Graphene, based on a historical comparison with Carbon Nanotubes. In the second section of this talk graphen opportunities in process technology will be introduced and discussed.
