Titel
Knowledge management requirements of mobile work on information technology
Abstract
In addition to the traditional field services, market observations show that due to the increasing quality improvements and cost reductions in the transportation and communication, the number of mobile workers is growing rapidly. Businesses hope to improve the quality of their services and products by increasing the direct contacts to their customers and partners. From the IT point of view, one of the immediate consequences is the increasing demand for being integrated into the global and corporate network. However, for a closer look at the requirements of mobile work on IT, an analysis of mobile work appears to be indispensable. This paper aims at contributing to filling this gap. After a survey of existing explorations on mobile work and adding our observations from the domain of facility management, we summarize the results of a SWOT analysis that has been performed within the project Mummy1, and try to extract the essential requirements of mobile work on IT, especially from the Knowledge Management point of view.
