Abstract
Characterizing surface adhesive properties of a peptide or protein by: providing a sample mixture containing two or more peptide fragments of a peptide or protein; determining the masses of the peptide fragments by a mass spectrometry and creating a reference peptide mass fingerprint; applying the sample mixture in an inorganic or organic substrate surface with respect to the surface adhesive properties; determining the masses of the peptide fragments not bound to the substrate surface and creating the peptide mass fingerprint; and comparing the fingerprints with a reference fingerprint. Characterizing surface adhesive properties of a peptide or protein comprises: providing a sample mixture containing two or more peptide fragments of the peptide or protein to be characterized; determining the peptide fragment masses of the peptide fragments contained in the sample mixture by a mass spectrometer and creating a reference peptide mass fingerprint; applying the sample mixture in an inorganic or organic substrate surface with respect to the surface adhesive properties of the peptide or protein to be characterized; determining the peptide fragment masses of the peptide fragments contained in the sample mixture, not bound to the substrate surface by the mass spectrometer and creating the peptide mass fingerprint; and comparing the peptide mass fingerprints with a reference peptide mass fingerprint. An independent claim is included for identifying a material, which is used as a packaging material for storing peptides and proteins.
