Titel
Agents and Virtual Environments for Communication and Decision Training for Emergencies
Abstract
A system for communication and decision training in emergency situations is presented that uses autonomous agents for simulating and explaining human behavior. Trainees and agents act together in a shared virtual environment that is distributed via computer network. It is shown how an agent can autonomously control its visual appearance in 2D graphical user interfaces as well as in the 3D virtual reality. Furthermore, it is discussed how agents can be integrated as components in the training system that is organized as an object-oriented application framework. Authors can take advantage of this concept specifying the agents' behavior efficiently in an application domain specific way. A prototype implementation of the training system as well as its authoring environment has been used for emergency training dealing with a burning Metro train scenario and a nuclear power plant.
