Erfassung von Sensordaten mittels Pocket PC
Abstract

This paper describes both the planning and the way of putting into action a software project that reads sensor data by the help of an RS 232 interface of a Pocket PC. This software also allows putting those data into a database. Several ways of programming the Pocket PC are depicted by this paper. Furthermore, there is a description of the programmer's language Java because this one was finally chosen to program the Pocket PC. For that purpose the specification of the Java 2 Micro-Edition by the computer firm SUN is analysed and virtual machines provided by some other firms are also explained in detail. The main part documents the way single components of the software project have taken from the very first draft to the final transformation into a working program. At the end of the main part the solution that was finally worked on is introduced. The solution is described in the following order: 1. First draft of a record describing the transfer of data with the help of the interface RS 232 2. New draft and the implementation of the loging-software for the Pocket PC; 3. description of the search for a way to synchronize the data with a Desktop PC; 4. New features that serve to transfer the loging-files into a database are drafted and implemented into a software program already existing; 5. Draft of a database structure for the logged data. As well as pros and cons of the final solution are discussed several ideas are proposed and also some suggestions for improvement are made in the final comment.
