Abstract
Line- and hexagonal-like periodic textures were fabricated on aluminium zinc oxide (AZO) and PET polymer substrates using direct laser interference patterning method. It was found that hexagonally patterned surfaces show a higher performance in both transparency and diffraction properties compared to line-like textured and non-patterned substrates. The organic solar cells fabricated on the textured PET substrates based on ZnPc:C60 showed an improvement of both the short circuit current and the power conversion efficiency due to an increasing light absorption in the active layer. Comparing the power conversion efficiencies to the reference cell on flat PET, a relative increase of 5% is observed for the line pattern, and a 21% improvement for the hexagonal pattern with the shorter period.
