VR-HYPERSPACE is a European-funded Seventh Framework project which began in October, 2011 to investigate enhancing passenger comfort in future air travel using state of the art research in neuroscience and psychology of self and space perception, with future visions of virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies. The goal is to investigate "positive illusions" created by VR/MR which enable the passenger to see themselves looking well and feeling more comfortable, believe they have more personal space around them and in the cabin, and carry out activities with and without other people in a more comfortable environment. In this paper we describe our work towards integrating some of these positive illusions into the physical environment of the aircraft cabin.
