Open integration environment for e-learning products and services
Abstract
Lifelong learning in the currently evolving knowledge society is rapidly becoming a basic requirement for industry's transforming workforce. The resulting revolution of training and education towards learner-tailored anytime-anyplace provision of new media learning content and services creates many challenges for the specification, design and implementation of platforms, tools and learning materials. Various standardization initiatives are beginning to address those challenges, yet do not sufficiently attend to the requirements of a global education market, in which the localization of content and services, i.e. their adaptation to local requirements is of major significance. We are proposing an Open Integration Environment for E-Learning Products and Services that can serve as a platform for addressing those needs, together with The International Certificate Program for New Media (ICPNM) as a test bed and at the same time a potential best-practice case towards future learning provision for the global education market.
