Abstract
Artificial forisome body comprises (a) a sieve element occlusion by forisomes (SEO-F) protein or a form of this protein that is C-terminally deleted by up to 45 amino acids and/or N-terminally deleted by up to 13 amino acids, where the SEO-F protein has a property of being able to form homomeric forisome bodies in the absence of additional SEO-F proteins, and (b) a fusion protein consisting of at least one SEO-F protein or a section of SEO-F protein that comprises at least 50 amino acids and at least one additional protein or peptide. Artificial forisome body comprises (a) a sieve element occlusion by forisomes (SEO-F) protein or a form of this protein that is C-terminally deleted by up to 45 amino acids and/or N-terminally deleted by up to 13 amino acids, where the SEO-F protein has a property of being able to form homomeric forisome bodies in the absence of additional SEO-F proteins, and (b) a fusion protein consisting of at least one SEO-F protein or a section of SEO-F protein that comprises at least 50 amino acids and at least one additional protein or peptide consisting of biochemically active or activatable proteins or peptides, provided that, if required, any number of the four cysteines present in the native SEO-F proteins in the C-terminal section between AS 600 and AS 670 is exchanged for amino acids that are unable to form an S-S bridge bond. Independent claims are included for: (1) a plant cell or yeast cell comprising (a) a first vector that codes for the SEO-F-protein, and (b) a second vector that codes for the fusion protein; (2) a vector reproduced in a yeast cell comprising a portion that codes for the fusion protein; and (3) use of fusion protein comprising the SEO-F-protein and the additional protein or peptide, for the preparation of an artificial forisome body.
