A methodology is presented for coupling heterogeneous computational codes for human-centred indoor thermal quality performance analysis. This comprises models for heat transfer between virtual human and its environment, a thermoregulation model, and models for thermal sensation and comfort perception. The geometric model of the virtual human is derived from an ergonomic model which parametrically defines the armature model while maintaining the segmentation of the thermoregulation model by geometrical constraints. The developed software framework enables the modular adaptation of simulation software and experimental devices for integration into a uniform co-simulation environment. The middleware provides the runtime infrastructure which facilitates loose coupling of numerical sub-models on distributed computing platforms. It provides services to visualize, observe and modify ongoing co-simulations. The architecture supports the use of parallel computing resources.
