Abstract
Engineered NP may be cytotoxic which was found not only to be due to the dissolution of toxic components, but might be a defined particle induced effect, not well understood until now. WC NP were found to be not toxic, whereas WC-Co NP were demonstrated to be highly cytotoxic for several cell types investigated in this study. Both are able to pass the outer cell membrane but can not get into the nuclei.
