Performance optimization of an adaptive vibration absorber using a design to reliability approach
Abstract
For adaptive system design in the field of vibration reduction, a design to reliability approach is developed. In contrast to common development guidelines it provides reliability considerations at an early stage of the development process. Based on a first working design with boundary conditions of noise vibration and harshness it provokes early reliability tests for design optimization. Furthermore, the fact that purchased parts are often used in a different context as they were designed for is addressed. This paper also shows that early reliability considerations are also leading to an overall enhancement of the system performance. The simultaneous conduction of reliability tests and functional tests of the system leads to time- and therefore cost effectiveness of the overall design process.
