Saxony is famous as the cradle of the German textile and machine tool industry. This tradition stretches back almost 200 years and is linked with brands and company histories that have also gained recognition outside of Germany.
Today Saxony is the mechanical engineering centre of central Germany. The mechanical- and plant-engineering sector is one of the most important branches of the economy of the Free State of Saxony. It stands for tradition as well as the future, for the highest quality and innovation, for flexibility and customer-friendliness.
The key to the success and the innovative power of the Saxon companies is the close cooperation with research institutes, such as the Chemnitz, Freiberg and Dresden Universities of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institutes in Chemnitz and Dresden. Mechanical engineering in Saxony is diverse and varied. Machinery and plant are produced for nearly all industries. This trade catalogue gives a good insight into these diverse Saxon skills. Manufacturers, service providers and research institutions are presented and demonstrate the potential of the Free State of Saxony in mechanical engineering.
