The BMBF-Innovation Alliance »Green Car Body Technologies« with more than 30 industry partners is one of the key projects of our institute. One project investigates the influence of joining technologies in the field of car body manufacturing on the energy and resource efficiency. Because in the car body manufacturing the amount of energy and resources for joining technologies is considerable.
Within the framework of this project a new evaluation method with consideration of all different influences on joining processes (pre, in, post) was developed. This method will be explained and demonstrated for different examples of innovative joining technologies (in car body manufacturing) following an evaluation regarding the aspects of energy and resource efficiency. As result of the project it will be shown that the selection of joining technologies has a high optimization potential.
