Titel
Simple and robust biogas-fed SOFC system with 50 % electric efficiency - modeling and experimental results
Abstract
A simple system model was presented that makes it possible to quickly assess system concepts and identify system concepts that are particularly interesting due to a simple process, high electric efficiency, or preferably a combination of those. The model includes a possibility to incorporate a simply measurable stack-loss-term to make very reasonable prognoses. It was shown how the model can be used to augment the design process. A biogas SOFC system was designed and built with the help of the model. The reforming concept is partial oxidation of biogas (which is basically oxidative dry CO2 reforming of methane). Select system operation results were presented using the model to analyze system operation. It was shown that with this simple system concept gross electric efficiencies of η ; el,gro>0.5 can be reached. With delivering this paper the system has been running for approximately top=600 h. Degradation exceeds that of stack tests but is still within reasonable limits of 1.5 %/1000 h. The maximum pressure drop over the entire system was measured to be ≡30 mbar for all steady state operating points.
