Optimal structures for hierarchical networks of performance units
Abstract
We present a combined mixed integer and constraint program for finding a optimal cell configuration of the given resource, such that within each cell one-piece-flow is possible while guaranteeing a minimum utilization of the resources. The opjective is to minimize the material flow between the cells and the number of recources, which are skipped for some parts. Numerical results for some small-scale examples are discussed. Our long-term goal is to extend this approach to the more general question of optimal structures for hierarchical networks of performance units.
