Titel
Towards responsive open learning environments: The ROLE interoperability framework
Abstract
In recent years, research on methodologies, technologies and systems to support the assembly and use of web-based learning services, widgets and resources in responsive open learning environments has gained increased interest. The overall goal is to enrich or even replace traditional learning management systems like Moodle and Blackboard with mash-ups of widgets and services that can be combined and configured in flexible ways, according to the needs of the learner. In this paper, we present the implemented prototype of the ROLE interoperability framework. The purpose of this framework is to provide a common technical infrastructure to support the assembly of widgets and services in responsive open learning environments. We also present two case studies, where these technologies to establish personal learning environments (PLEs), have been deployed.
