The Active Solar Panel Initiative intended to develop a fundamentally new, multidisciplinary photovoltaic module technology that should enable to meet and even to exceed the year 2015 cost targets of the EU Photovoltaic Strategic Research Agenda and could drive European consumer premises power generation to cost parity with grid electricity. The goals of the project include prototyping and verification of the technology, as well as development and verification of cost-efficient module assembly techniques and dissemination of knowledge among European manufacturers.
