Titel
Integrated data architecture for the virtual prototyping of real production systems by means of the Extended Markup Language (XML)
Abstract
The combination of simulation, Virtual Reality and real production systems called virtual prototyping is an auspicious way to handle and to cope with turbulences in production systems. The use of virtual prototypes which represent the real production system shorten the cycle time for the modification and reconfiguration of the virtual and real production system respectively. The core technology to establish this type of configuration platform is an integrated data architecture which is flexible, extensible and standardized. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a suitable data format for describing the information within an integrated data structure. The main advantage is that the information and the interface for the sub systems (simulation, VR etc.) have to be generated once. The possibility to markup the different information with definite identifiers allows to propagate the information through the whole system. The integrated sub systems like simulation or the real production system check these information and extract the relevant data for processing. Additionally the data structure is extensible with new identifiers, if new sub systems are integrated.
