Abstract
Polymer recycling is a tough process, which should be performed by selecting a sensible and cost-effective mix of material, feedstock, and thermal techniques. Mechanical recycling is a sensible method for the economically advantageous recycling of selected component parts. Germany occupies the first place in plastic recycling that is covered in areas by directives or voluntary schemes. New developments have been made in the area of waste equipment refilled material or as reducing agents for steel production and use as refuse derived fuel. Virgin recyclate blends suitable for a given application in line with customer requirements, whose property levels orientate themselves on virgin polymer, are produced and marketed. Pyrolysis or use in blast furnaces as well as thermal recycling are environmentally friendly, because in all of these processes the carbon in the plastic is very least partially oxidized and therefore, replaces other carbon sources.
