The J2EE architecture defines how applications, that are implemented utilizing other technologies, can be connected to J2EE components. This paper describes how J2EE components can be integrated into a service environment, that is not prepared to support components that are implemented utilizing other technologies. Using reverse engineering techniques an abstract model of the service environment has been developed. The protocol between the environment and the hosted services has been expressed in terms of this model and finally been mapped to J2EE technology. The software components that bridge the involved technologies and map the technology specific parts of the protocols are generated automatically. The advantages of such a "model driven engineering" approach as well as the experiences with today's tools will be explained.
