Adaptronik als Zwischenstufe vom maschinenbaulichen zum biologischen System
Abstract
In mechanical engineering, adaptronic systems offer new conceptional design possibilities for machines and construction elements. Essential, and basically new, is the fact that the passive structure actively adapts to actual operating conditions by means of sensing, actuating and controlling elements. Such an "intelligent" structure works more efficient, more economical and at higher life cycles. Nature demonstrates such adaptive systems; a bird, for instance, adapts the shape of its wings to the actual flow. In Bionics, the attempt is made to learn from nature and to put these experiences into new principles of construction. The present article elucidates the enormous potential of adaptronics to solve these problems.
