Manufacturing in turbulent markets effects on production planning and control
Abstract
Strong market fluctuations require an enlarged understanding of PPC and how it is designed, since the conventional PPC vision of a steady flow of orders independent from the external and internal requirements is no longer realistic. The paper introduces an analogy between physical and manufacturing phenomena to classify the logistic system behaviour. This forms the theoretical fundament to allow the external and internal logistic positioning of a manufacturing company.
