A case study on engineering ontologies and related processes for sharing software engineering experience
Abstract
With the acceleration of technological changes and product innovation, the sharing of software engineering experience (all kinds of knowledge that can be of use for developing software) within a software development organization becomes a major competitive advantage. This paper describes a systematic approach for developing a technical infrastructure for experience sharing. We present (parts of) the DISER methodology that especially considers the interplay between human-based and computer-based methods (especially case-based reasoning). We describe the method GOODSEE (Goal-Oriented Ontology Development for Software Engineering Experience) using an industrial-strength case study. GOODSEE is specialized towards the tasks of populating and utilizing an experience base for the domain of software engineering experience reuse.
