Titel
The influence of altered exchange coefficients on the climate of an energy balance model
Abstract
Uses the one-dimensional energy-balance model, originally developed by Ghil (1976, 1981), to investigate the influence of changed energy transports between equator and pole on the two stable model climates. van Loon and Williams (1976) showed, on the basis of experimental data, that the warming of the polar cap between 1900 and 1941 was associated with stronger heat fluxes north of 65 degrees N. Their results lead to the conclusion to test the influence of changed energy transports on the climate in a simple energy-balance model. The authors show that altered energy at high latitudes, in qualitative agreement with the mentioned investigations by van Loon and Williams (1976) on the basis of atmospheric data.
