Abstract
(A1) Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Fettsaeureestern aus Fetten und/oder Oelen biogenen Ursprungs durch Umesterung mit ein- oder mehrwertigen Alkoholen in Gegenwart einer speziellen hydroxyfunktionellen quartaeren Ammoniumverbindung als Katalysator.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Producing a fatty acid ester comprises reacting fats and/or oils of biogenic origin with monovalent or polyvalent alcohols in the presence of hydroxy-functional quaternary ammonium compound of formula N+(R)(R1C)(R2C)(R3C) (I), as a catalyst. R1-R3 = 1-10C-alkyl, 1-10C-alkenyl, 1-10C-alkynyl, 2-10C-alkoxyalkyl, 2-10C-alkenyloxyalkyl, 5-10C-cycloalkyl, 5-10C-cycloalkyloxy, 5-10C-cycloalkenyl, 5-10C-cycloalkenyloxy, 6-12C-cycloalkoxyalkyl, 6-12C-cycloalkenyloxyalkyl, 6-12C-cycloalkyloxyalkenyl, 5-10C-aryl, 5-10C-aryloxy, 6-12C-aralkyl, 6-12C-aralkenyl, 6-12C-aryloxyalkyl, 6-12C-aryloxyalkenyl (all optionally substituted and 1-4 carbon of the above group are optionally substituted by heteroatoms); and R = 1-12C-hydroxyalkyl, 1-12C-hydroxyalkenyl or 1-12C-hydroxyalkynyl, preferably 2-hydroxyethyl. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a glycerin product. USE - (I) or the glycerin product is useful as catalyst for the preparation of the fatty acid ester. The glycerin product is useful as feed additive in feed industry (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The process rapidly provides fatty acid ester with high yield.
