Abstract
DE 102009005620 A1 UPAB: 20100810 NOVELTY - The method involves producing plasma (6) by an anode (3) within a region adjacent to a cathode (1) and a grid (2), and uncoupling electrons (7) from the plasma by the grid by creating electrical voltage between the grid and the cathode. The uncoupled electrons are accelerated in direction of the anode by creating the electrical voltage between the grid and the anode. The plasma is produced by focusing laser pulses on a surface of the cathode, and a distance is selected between the cathode and the grid, where the distance is less than or equal to 3 cm. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for an arrangement for production of an electron beam. USE - Method for production of an electron beam in an electron gun. ADVANTAGE - The electrons are uncoupled from the plasma by the grid by creating the electrical voltage between the grid and the cathode, and the uncoupled electrons are accelerated in the direction of the anode by creating the electrical voltage between the grid and the anode, thus ensuring pulse duration within a sub-picoseconds range. The method satisfies the required average power within a range of 100 milliwatts to 10 watts, thus achieving high pulse performance of the laser pulses for plasma production.
