The architecture, design and actual experimental results of integrated optical low-loss broadband Ti:LiNbO3 polarization controllers with unlimited range are presented and their compact integration in a heterodyne-receiver outlined. The authors describe two concepts of integrated optical low-loss broadband polarization controllers permitting unlimited state of polarisation (SOP) control.
