Title
Land mobile satellite channel characteristics from the MiLADY project
Abstract
This paper presents a first evaluation of measurement data acquired during a measurement campaign in which multiple satellite signals from the S-band were recorded simultaneously. Out of this data base, first order statistics are derived for different environments incorporating various satellite elevation angles, variable interleaver lengths as well as angle diversity with two satellites. The results show, that the required link margin for a certain service availability can be significantly decreased either by time interleaving of the satellite signal or by combining two satellite signals (angle diversity). The combination of time interleaving and angle diversity results in a further improvement of the service availability.
